Chapter 2 Final Page

So we’re at the end of chapter 2, in this page the interview concludes setting us up nicely (I hope) for an action packed chapter 3.

I’ve tried using some blurring techniques in this page to help draw the eye to the main character in a couple of the panels, not sure how successful it is but think it has promise so I’ll definitely be playing around with it in future pages to see if can get it just so.

I’m now going back over the entire chapter and updating the artwork to the stage I’m now at, I’ll then be doing the lettering and posting the complete chapter once I’m done.

As always any comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Robbie’s got some bad news!

So here’s the next page for you, page 17 already!! How time flies eh?

Anyway, in this page we see Libby viewing the stored security feed of her fathers death whilst working at The Company. In the script of course this is all being told during the interview but doing pages and pages of people sitting in a room talking would be boring as hell so much like the previous double page I’ve drawn the event.

Hopefully you like what you see, the next page is the final page of the chapter which will be in the interview room to hopefully round things off nicely.

Trying out a slightly different shading technique on the people this time around, while I’m still drawing it in grayscale I’m then adding a soft shadow to try and round things off… not sure how well I’ve managed with it, the best example being the back of Libby’s hand in frame 4, hopefully as I get a bit more to grips with it, it’ll add something to the overall work.

As always any and all comments are most welcome.

Double Page Time!

So a slight delay getting this one finished, though as it’s a double page I guess it’s also a week early?!.. hmmm well anyway so I’ve again been experimenting with a few more lighting/ shading bits and bobs, this time incorporating gradients to create depth.

I’ve also been playing around with the ink work a bit, in frame 3 I’ve pretty much dropped it completely only leaving the map inked in parts, and in frame 5 I split the ink work on the pipes into three parts so I could then drop the middle distance to 50% opacity and remove them completely from the background in an attempt to reinforce the sense of distance.

As always any and all feedback is most appreciated, as I try out these various techniques it’s really helpful to hear how successful or not you think they are.

Any alternative options, or ways I might improve upon what I’ve done will be gladly received šŸ™‚

Flashback Part 3

Here’s the final part of the flashback, as a means of saving time and money (no scanning costs) I’ve decided to do the penciling stage on the computer, effectively making it part of the inking stage.

As always, any and all comments are always most welcome.

Flashback Part 2: This Time It’s Personal!

Okay so here’s the second part of the flashback sequence, I’m still playing around with various shading options trying to create a sense of depth, let me know what you think. If you have any ideas that you think might help please let me know.

Flashback time!!

Okay so here’s page 12 for you, over the past few weeks I’ve been trying out varies different gray scaling techniques in an effort to improve on what I’ve been doing so far specifically with shadows.

This is what I’ve come up with so far though it will be an ongoing thing so expect a few differences as we progress, by the time it’s all done I’ll hopefully have it down and will then go back and update it from the start.

Let me know what you think in the comments box below, feedback is extremely helpful for me as I try out new techniques:)

Chapter 2 Begins!

As with the first chapter I’ll be posting all the artwork each fortnight and then doing the lettering in one go at the end.

I found doing it this way meant I had a good amount of time to look over what I was doing and take in feedback beforeĀ finalizingĀ the artwork (quite a few changes were made from first posting the pages to then posting the finished chapter).

Also by doing the lettering in one go I was able to make a few script changes as I went allowing for better flow (I hope).

Anyway so here’s the first page for chapter 2 and the big boys are getting involved…!!

As always post any feedback below, I hope you enjoy.

Cheers
